The Safeguarding Children and Young People Program assists Surf Life Saving in our commitment to the protection of children from abuse, harm and exploitation.
The program builds the capacity of SLS to protect our children and young people by providing resources and education to support clubs to provide a safe environment for all members, and is underwritten by the Surf Life Saving Australia Member Protection Policy.

Promote the Codes of Conduct
Our next step in the safeguarding journey focuses on Codes of Conduct. Surf Life Saving members are supported by two Codes of Conduct which represent the minimum standards of member behaviour and must be complied with at all times:
• General Code of Conduct
• Code of Conduct for Persons in Positions of Authority in Dealing with Children or Young People
The last Code of Conduct here was developed specifically to support the Safeguarding Program. Both Codes of Conduct can be found online here in the SLSA Member Protection Policy, or downloaded from the attachment section below.
We know that not everyone reads this! Which is why we need your help this month to raise awareness of the contents of them.
